Clyde Edgerton, novelist and playwright (Wilmington)
Edgerton is the author of 10 best selling novels, 5 of them N.Y. Times Notal Books, including Raney, Walking Across Egypt, and The Bible Salesman. He is the author of Lunch at the Piccadilly, produced by Festival Stage.
Wendy Hammond, playwright and teacher (New York)
Hammond's plays have been produced by many theatres including Actors Theatre of Louisville and Long Wharf Theatre. She is the recipient McKnight Fellowship, an NEA grant, an Amblin fellowship and a Drama League Award.
Angus MacLachlin, playwright, screenwriter, and director (Winston-Salem)
MacLachlan is the author of many plays including The Dead Eye Boy, produced by Manhattan Class Company in N.Y., and the feature films Junebug, Stone with Robert DeNiro, and the current Goodbye to All That, which he also directed.
Paul Meshijian, Founding Artistic Director, PlayPenn (Philadelphia)
PlayPenn this year celebrates its 10th anniversary, and is one of the country's leading new play development centers.
Joan Vail Thorne, playwright, director and Teacher (New York)
A N.Y. Outer Critic's Circle Award winner, Thorne's work has been seen at American Place Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, Alley Theatre, and Asolo Theatre. She wrote The Exact Center of the Universe, produced by Festival Stage.
Festival Judges and Consultants
The festival judges include representatives of the full-time, adjunct and emeritus faculties of Wake Forest University, University of N.C. School of the Arts, Winston-Salem State University, University of N.C. Greensboro, High Point University, and Davidson College.
